Corin has always seen Radio as one of the most important factors in a Dj Culture that should be a Transporter of New Ideas and Attitudes, and likewise an ever evolving always fresh to the ears and irresistible to the feet Soundtrack for those new ideas and attitudes.
Being born in the late 1950s in London he grew up with his Mother listening to the then new and exciting Radio 1 heavy on the pop of the day, the Rolling Stones, the Kinks, the Beatles, during the day and the Soul soundtrack to life that his Father prefered in the evenings. Stax, Motown, Otis Redding, Ray Charles...he showed corin how he recorded 4 hour tape reels of the pirate radio ship carioline and then went through the reel splicing the tape to take out all but the essential tunes of the moment. Beat matched to boot! John Peel played an immense role in Corins musical education and thereafter the Pirate stations were running things.
Moving to Berlin in 89, there have been Ed2000 radio shows continuously since 1994. Radio is where the avant garde in any new sound and lifestyle will be heard by most people first, as only very few will actually be in the hotspot where anything innovative starts to gain momentum. Corin currently has two reguar radio shows, Dub Intervention fortnightly on The Face Radio Bkn, New York and Dangerous Drums: A New Chapter on Berlins Cashmere Radio. Both in their own way carry the message that can never be heard to often.
It Began in Africa and it is the vibrant and core elements of the sounds that are the hallmark of his two shows that will be presented at the point where soundwise they do indedéd meet, from the sample laden sonics of Dub Intervention to the varied Bass styles that are todays cuttíng edge call to the dance floor. Right now Ed2000s favorite artists are Lukado from South Africa, with his take on Amapiano which is simply out there in a space of its own and Jon E Cash, the founder of Grime who is fusing elements from traditional and current acfrocentric beats into a new style all of its own. As a reference regards what to expect musically, as well as the insistent rhythms and basslines of Hodge, Corins third favorite artists here and now, with a ramped up dub presence via software hardware and samples a plenty and you have an idea of where this may be going. On a good night that will sometimes be somewhere both deeply familiar and at the same time somwhere neither the dj or the guests have been before..
