support: Amin (Leveldva / Scherben / DE)

    Courtesy of: Luka Metreveli

L8 is a project of a young Georgian artist Luka Metreveli. The project itself is a combination of a Classical Dj performance featuring his own live vocal voice overing, from clean to mass load of FX, vocoder and all sorts of different voices he uses. This makes his performance one of a kind on the scene.
His selection is a fine blend of old school electro breaks, acid and house, he says, those are what makes him move. But also he uses all sorts of IDM/Experimental/Ambient/Drum’n’Bass Musical elements making his sets rich and full of futuristic power.

    Dj Sonora Mulata

Sonora Mulata brings with her the legacy of Afro-descendant rhythms, her inspiration comes from the persistence of diverse African cultures combined with the beats of electronic music.
Her exploration and musical training in the world of beats comes from ska, reggae & dub; up to Drum n’ Bass, juke, garage and dubstep; but her expertise definitely shows within Afro-Latin rhythms: Salsa, Dembow, Cumbia, Funk Dance and Tribal.
Her selections always show percussions, prehispanic singins, even allusions to protests of resistance, always looking for the roots of the dance itself.

    Isa Rude

    photo: courtesy of Isa Rude

Isa Rude started djing during her stay in Tokyo in 2015, where she found her love to house music.

Back in her hometown, she played house and techno at several clubs where she was usually moonlighting as a bartender. But she realised soon enough that she had to give up small town life if she wanted to build her skills even further. Seeking more inspiration she moved to Berlin, where she particularly fell in love with disco music.

As she tried to find "her sound", she discovered quite a few disco parties, but why should there only be one sound to play? There are certainly more genres to discover. This led her to her conclusion that she doesn't like to play by the rules. Her goal is to mix different genres together and keep the energy up while always reinventing herself.

Martina Bertoni & Munsha – Live!

„2 cellists stroke cello strings, broider dialogues without words, blend warm voices with feedback and produce strange sounds in strange ways. Martina Bertoni and Munsha’s concert is an impulsive performance for unforeseeable cellos, elusive echoes and boundless fascination.“

    Courtesy of Munsha

    Venture

Choreography & Performance: Annukka Hirvonen, Justyna Kalbarczyk, Roberta Ricci (Edith Buttingsrud Pedersen)
    Music: Alex Zampini

    Foto: Henryk Weiffenbach

'Venture' is a transforming concept, that can be presented with a changing number of performers in spaces of any kind. Reflecting on the theme of adaptation, we create an instant performance through our specific language of movement, choreographic composition and sound. In ever changing circumstances and landscapes, our familiar sense of connection, communication and listening remains our nature and awakefully interacts within all present elements. A community, a conversation, each time a new journey. Another accommodation.

    C o m p a n y H A A

Company HAA is a collaboration of four dance artists from different countries, based in Berlin, Germany. Having found each other and worked together for several years through Collective ONE:THIRD, we share an interest in combining different forms of art into a work that reflects humanity and communicates in a transparent manner. Coming from different backgrounds, our meeting point lies in improvisation and instant composition, in which we cultivate our individual qualities, complex physicality and performative elements. In the desire of opening up our vocabulary, involving new media and other artists, we decided to form Company HAA, a platform for any dance related art. Our work intends to challenge the traditional idea of a performative space. Each of us is continuously developing the research in their personal ways and by coming together we complement each other in a unique manner.

    Dj Mwadka Polypen

    Foto: Gaelle de Radigues

Now here is Mwadka, a DJ who makes the floor dance the voodoo, takes the crowd on a journey of many dimensions and brings it all with an intensity that expresses the joy created by music. Her rhythms are funky, the atmospheres hypnotic. The waves of melodies, vocals and ethnic percussions go into the mix. On the stage stands a good looking woman, confident, inspired, exciting, with a charisma, a desire and a sixth sense for what the people want. When she says, let the party begin, it will, and, as long as she leads the dance from behind the stand, it will go on until dawn. No way to stand still, and after all, why should you, when, as Mwadka says, ‘life is light, and the music the language of love’.

What makes her style even more special is the spectacular way she uses the table. Mwadka doesn’t use it as a switch, from one record to the next one, but plays it as an instrument, and yes, in her case, as a drum. ‘It just happens, as soon as I feel the beat and vibrations of the music’, Mwadka tells, ‘I start tapping my fingers, and there it goes, I create rhythm with the sounds of the records. Again, why should a drum be drum? Like Roland Kirk, a famous jazz player said, “a good musician knows how to stretch it. He can play the piano on a washing board.” That’s what I do with the mix table.’

So here she is, a bright young woman, ready to take you on a ride full of emotion, ready to make you dancing to the music that unites us all, from the jungle to the valleys, the desert to the mountains, whatever colour, whatever background, it all adds up, it all makes the body sweat and the soul glow. Enjoy it.

    Tropical Vampire

    -LIVE

    Foto: Michael Engelberger

As [her] shadow walks behind“.

      Warm Up:

    Atalein

    Foto: Michelle Grace Hunder

Atalein is the industrial, electronic project of Melbourne-based producer Laura Hopkins. The freedom to break rules drew Laura to electronic music after many years of classical piano training. Her debut single ‘Autumn / Winter’ is one of many she wrote inspired from her trip to Europe last year. Co-produced and mixed by Becki Whitton and mastered by Joe Lambert, the song explores brutalist textures and beats intertwined with light and almost fragile vocals.
To bring the song to life Atalein partnered with video director Rob La Terra. The song whichpremiered at this year’s Fringe Festival with Clipped.TV explores emotions of wanting to break away from the rigid expectations you put on yourself or others inflict.
In terms of the video, Rob explains,” Autumn and Winter. These seasons in literary symbolism provide a landscape for painful messages, as well as messages of renewal, rebirth and hope.
The clip is as much a lucid journey through these seasons of oppression and self-discovery as it is a shedding of one's own skin, both figuratively and literally.”
The release of ‘Autumn / Winter’ comes just as Atalein is preparing to head to Berlin to spend a few months writing and working on her music more.
